Parks steps up as Osaka survives Ibaraki in Japan B.League Division 1

MANILA – Bobby Ray Parks Jr. stepped up his offensive game as Osaka Evessa escaped Ibaraki Robots, 74-71, in the Japan B.League Division 1 at the Adastria Mito Arena.

The former National University Bulldogs guard finished with 20 points, three rebounds and three assists as the Evessa secured their ninth win in 16 matches.

Matt Bonds led the way with a double-double of 29 points and 14 rebounds, while Ryan Luther contributed with 14 points for the Evessa, which also defeated Ibaraki in their first encounter, 82-77.

“The whole team was able to fight as one,” Bonds said. “There were some difficult moments, but I think it was great that we were able to overcome it.”

Robert Franks led the way with 25 points, while Jehyve Floyd and Noboru Hasegawa contributed 13 and 11, respectively, as they dropped to a 3-13 mark.

Kai Sotto had a double-double showing of 24 points and 13 rebounds as Koshigaya Alphas (4-12) dominated Fighting Eagles Nagoya (5-11), 101-71.

Dwight Ramos finished with nine points, five assists, and three rebounds as Levanga Hokkaido (5-11) bowed anew to Hiroshima Dragonflies (5-11), 87-74.

Ilonggo Kiefer Ravena, meanwhile, struggled with four points and three assists as Yokohama B-Corsairs (6-10) faltered to Seahorses Mikawa (11-5), 83-65.

Matthew Wright, on the other hand, tallied 10 points as Kawasaki Brave Thunders (4-12) lost to Alvark Tokyo (14-2), 80-62./PN
