INDEED we are going to talk about MORE Power, “I Am Iloilo City’s” sole power distribution utility, particularly as a partner in the development of the city/province and region.
And we start with the latest news: MORE Power’s brand new 30/36 MVA Mobile Power Transformer has been fully energized and formally inaugurated on March 23 by no less than owner billionaire Enrique K. Razon.
This newest equipment boasts some impressive features, including a 30 MVA Power Transformer manufactured by ASTOR A.?. Plus, MORE Power is the first distribution utility in the country to utilize the PASS M00 technology of ABB (Hitachi Energy), which compactly combines a power circuit breaker, disconnect switches, current transformers, and potential transformers in one small form factor package.
It has compact gas-insulated switchgears and relays by Siemens and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), as well as a state-of-the-art ETOS smart digital tap changer and MSENSE online DGA by Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen.
The partnership of MORE Power, EEI Power Corporation, and Aktif made this project possible.
All these are, of course, part of the multi-billion pesos five-year development program of MORE Power to bring the power distribution facilities of Iloilo City into the 21st century.
Meanwhile, business tycoon Enrique K. Razon Jr., principal owner of MORE Electric and Power
Corporation (MORE Power), vowed to continue being a partner for the progress not only of Iloilo City but also of the whole Western Visayas.
According to Razon, the newly inaugurated substation is a testament to their commitment to support the growth of Iloilo City through the provision of reliable and sustainable power supply.
“We are proud to be a part of Iloilo’s journey towards progress and will remain committed to contributing to the region’s economic and social development.” (Panay News 3/23/2023)
Not only that, by year’s end, another new substation along the Diversion Road or Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue in Mandurriao will soon be operational and this will replace the old city proper substation along General Luna Street.
As MORE Power president and chief executive officer Roel Castro said: “All of these are geared towards having an electric service infrastructure that is very reliable, adequate, and stable and should be competitively priced.”
This inspired a very grateful “I Am Iloilo City” Mayor Jerry Treñas to say: “From our homes, offices, public spaces, and commercial centers, electricity is a necessity. It is important in our daily lives, more so in a city such as ours. As the city government endeavors to be one of the top most livable-highly urbanized cities of the Philippines by 2028, let us all recognize the efforts of MORE Power to help us reach this goal. Facilities are continually upgraded and necessary repairs are made even during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“Teams are deployed 24/7, and communication lines are always open to quickly respond to concerns of the consumers. Customer service is professional making customers feel valued. Highly dependable high-quality service available to the community is something that Ilonggos are very proud of.
“You have done a lot for the Ilonggos Mr. Razon and MORE Power, and I am very optimistic that there will be MORE from MORE. As we start to level up our city. We have to ensure that quality, electric power distribution becomes the standard. This enables us to improve quality of life, and prompt holistic development.”
And finally, a sneak peek on what Mayor Jerry Treñas means when he said, “There will be MORE from MORE:
“The aesthetics of Iloilo City’s historic Calle Real will be appreciated more once it has been freed from unsightly wirings. Underground cabling is a transformative program of the city government to make Iloilo City more livable. Aside from Calle Real, the undergrounding of wires will also be implemented in public plazas, heritage hubs as well as along the Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue.”(Panay News 3/27/2023)
