ILOILO City – Business tycoon Enrique K. Razon Jr., principal owner of MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power), vowed to continue being a partner for the progress not only of this southern city but also of the whole Western Visayas.
Razon was here yesterday to inaugurate MORE Power’s 30/36MVA substation at the Iloilo Business Park (Megaworld) in Mandurriao district.
He said the substation is a testament to their commitment to support the growth of Iloilo City through the provision of reliable and sustainable power supply.
“We are proud to be a part of Iloilo’s journey towards progress and will remain committed to contributing to the region’s economic and social development,” said Razon.
He also expressed his gratitude to all of MORE Power’s partners and stakeholders to include the Iloilo City Government headed by Mayor Jerry Treñas and Alliance Global chief executive officer Kevin Andrew L. Tan, as well as MORE Power’s employees.
Treñas, for his part, hailed MORE Power for helping the city government reach its goal of becoming one of the most liveable highly-urbanized cities in the Philippines by 2028.
Among others, Treñas cited MORE Power’s responsive customer service, reliable energy supply and efficient power distribution via the acquisition of state-of-the-art facilities.
“You have done a lot for the Ilonggos, Mr. Razon and MORE Power. I am very optimistic that there will be MORE from MORE as we level up our city. We have to ensure that quality power distribution becomes the standard. This enables us to improve the Ilonggos’ quality of life and achieve holistic development,” said Treñas.
For his part, Tan said Megaworld is more than happy to support MORE Power’s vision to modernize and deliver improved power services to Iloilo City via the 30/36MVA substation located at the Iloilo Business Park.
This partnership with MORE Power for a reliable and efficient energy supply, Tan said, will further attract more investments to the city with Megaworld as its central business district.
“Having this state-of-the-art power substation in our township is a big plus and a huge confidence boost to our potential investors. By design, Megworld townships such as the Iloilo Business Park are built to be resilient and self-sustaining master-planned communities,” Tan said.
Neighboring barangays, too, will benefit from the power substation which can accommodate two 30-megawatt transformers.
MORE Power president and chief executive officer Roel Castro said the state-of-the-art power substation at Megaworld is capable of unmanned operation and could be controlled and operated offsite in the firm’s control center.
MORE Power’s control center itself is also currently under construction.
By the end of the year, another new substation will rise along the Diversion Road (Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue) in Mandurriao; this will replace the old substation along General Luna Street in the City Proper.
“All of these are geared towards having an electric service infrastructure that is very reliable, adequate, stable and should be competitively priced,” said Castro./PN
