GUIMARAS – This island province will kick off its “Paskwa sa Isla” today.
Festivities will include a trade fair, a food festival with live bands, and Bangus Day, among others.
“Paskwa sa Isla” will officially start with a Christmas lights switch-on ceremony in front of the capitol grounds.
The trade fair, which will feature a variety of “naturally Guimaras” products as well as a food festival with a live band, will also begin today. These are every Friday to Sunday for the entire month of December.
The island province’s holiday celebrations will also highlight its world-famous mangoes, which will be on sale on Dec. 9 until supplies last.
A “Bangus” Day, featuring fresh and cheap milk fish produced by local fish farmers, will be held on Dec. 16.
As Guimaras pushes to become a health and wellness destination, the province will also host a zumba contest on Dec. 16.
On Dec. 17, there will be a children’s Christmas costume party.
As Guimaras flaunts its scenic views, people are also encouraged to join the first Gov. JC Rahman Nava 120-kilometer Tour de Guimaras cycling challenge. (With report from the provincial government of Guimaras)/PN
