ILOILO – After successfully completing a rigorous three-month training program, the 35-member Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of Passi City is now ready to commence their service.

The closing ceremony of Class “Masarigan” was graced by Deputy Regional Director for Administration Police Brigadier Archival Macala, along with top police officials of Iloilo Province and Region 6.

Mayor Stephen Palmares has assured his full support for the SWAT team, emphasizing the importance of their role in assisting the city with various operations.

He disclosed the allocation of P3 million in the 2024 budget for the modernization of the SWAT and police units, awaiting necessary documentation from the chief of police.

Additionally, the mayor has instructed the Passi City Police Station chief to provide a comprehensive list of equipment requirements for the SWAT team, emphasizing the need for a professional and well-equipped force complete with both long firearms and sidearms.

“If we have stable peace and order, I’ll tell you one of my dreams for 2028 is that Passi City will be the Tiger Economy in Central Panay, (and) we can achieve it. I’ll tell you that it is very significant and very important for investment. We can show the entire Panay and the entire Philippines that Passi City is an area for investment. We have the lowest crime rate; if possible, we have the SWAT, the PNP, and every law enforcement unit working to keep our peace and order. (Through it,) we can attract investments,” Palmares added./PN
