Passi City logs first COVID casualty

ILOILO – The city of Passi recorded its first death from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) – a 52-year-old woman from Barangay Poblacion Ilawod.

The patient was declared “dead on arrival” at the Don Valerio Palmares District Hospital on Monday, Oct. 26, according to the city government’s Public Information Office.

There was no further information given about this COVID-19 case.

The city government also confirmed seven more infections on Monday. They were the following:

* 48-year-old female government employee from Poblacion Ilawod (asymptomatic)

* 41-year-old female government employee form Poblacion Ilaya (asymptomatic)

* 59-year-old female from Barangay Sarapan (asymptomatic)

* 62-year-old male from Barangay Sarapan (asymptomatic)

* 26-year-old female from Barangay Sarapan (asymptomatic)

* 78-year-old male from Poblacion Ilawod and admitted at the Western Visayas Medical Center

* 80-year-old female from Poblacion Ilawod and admitted at Western Visayas Medical Center.

To date, Passi City has 108 total confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Of the 108 cases, 42 were active, 65 recovered and one died.

The 42 active cases were recorded in barangays Agdayao (five); Agtabo (two); Alimono (four); Bitaogan (one); Buenavista (one); Cairojan (one); Gines Viejo (two); Libo-o (one); Maasin (one); Man-it (three); Poblacion Ilawod (five); Poblacion Ilaya (eight); Quinagaringan Pequeño (one); Sabologon (three); and Sarapan (four).

Earlier, 16 employees of the city hall were found infected with coronavirus disease 2019.

This prompted Mayor Stephen Palmares to locked down the city hall beginning Monday until today./PN
