Passinhon MMAer fights in Indonesia

MANILA – Ilonggo mixed martial arts fighter Ariane Fantilanan is up for a huge challenge when he fights in the main event of ONE Pride Fight Night tonight at the Britama Arena in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Passi City, Iloilo native Fantilanan, who is from the Catalan Fighting System, will be facing the reigning national flyweight champion Suwardi of Indonesia in a three-round match.

Ilonggo MMA mentor Rene Catalan told Panay News he is confident Fantilanan can keep in step with the hometown fighter having preparing for the bout for a long time.

“Ariane has been preparing for this fight for months. We have studied the moves of Suwardi so we have an idea what he will do inside the ring,” said Catalan, who flew to Indonesia with Fantilanan on Thursday.

“Ariane is a veteran mixed martial arts fighter so we like our chances in this match,” added Catalan. “We are asking for prayers and support from the Passinhons as Ariane step inside the ring representing our country.”

This will be Fantilanan’s second MMA bout in less than three months after scoring a victory over veteran fighter JB Baldonasa in Universal Reality Combat Championship on Sept. 14./PN
