ANTIQUE – The Cadiao-Tan-Reyes (CTR) tandem, under the slogan “Patok Tumandok”, has officially been presented to the people of Antique for the May 2025 midterm elections.
On Friday morning, September 6, Gov. Rhodora Cadiao, Local Government Undersecretary Jonathan Tan, and former Caluya mayor Genevive Lim-Reyes launched the tandem at the Esprutingkle Convention Center in San Jose de Buenavista, in front of leaders and supporters, along with their slate of candidates for Provincial Board members and mayors.
During the launch, Cadiao declared her candidacy for congresswoman, Tan for governor, and Reyes for vice governor.
“Kadya nga adlaw, kita nagadeklarar kaimaw kang atun mga kasimanwa sa idalum kang Partido Tumandok, kang amun katuyuan sa pagpadalagan sa masunod nga eleksyon. Ang partido Tumandok sangka grupo kang mga Antiqueño nga may matuod-tuod nga pag-ulikid kag pagpalangga sa atun probinsya,” said Cadiao.
In an interview with Panay News, Cadiao shared that she decided to run for Congress despite significant pressures to withdraw, including from some former political allies who have now turned against her.
“Ang Antique ay para sa Antiqueño. Everybody turned their backs on me. Iniwanan nila ako eh. But the probability is high, bahala na. Kon totoo yong sabi nila na mukhang pera yong Antiqueño di matatalo ako,” Cadiao responded when asked if she was confident in their lineup.
Cadiao also explained the rationale behind their forming the local party “Patok Tumandok” – and that’s because their opponent in the May 2025 elections is not originally from Antique.
She referred to incumbent Cong. Antonio Agapito “AA” Legarda, whom the governor insists is actually from Metro Manila.
“If they want to help, they should help, but Antique is for the Antiqueños,” added Cadiao.
She also declared she is not backing down from her candidacy as she had thought about it for a long time and had been preparing accordingly.
