ILOILO City – Two riding-in-tandem motorists snatched a bag full of cash from a pawnshop employee yesterday morning in Brgy. Velasco, Lemery, Iloilo.

The bag contained P800,000, according to Leizyl Jativa, 35, of Brgy. Alibayog, Sara town and an employee of Palawan Pawnshop, Lemery branch.

She had just come out of Palawan Pawnshop in Sara and was riding on a motorcycle driven by her brother-in-law, Jestoni Jativa, 25, heading to Lemery when two armed men on another motorcycle suddenly appeared from behind and kicked them.

When they fell on the ground, Jativa said the back rider of the motorcycle grabbed her bag of money and sped to the direction of Capiz province.

According to Senior Insp. Herman Celiz, Lemery police chief, as of press time his investigators remained clueless on the identities of the robbers.

Three days ago, two armed men robbed three fish vendors in Brgy. Tingwan, Balasan, Iloilo.

Not content with getting the money (P20,000), they also shot Judy Ari, 48, and younger brother Jonathan, and Diony Paguhiman, all of San Dionsio town.

Iloilo police director, Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas instructed his police chiefs to identify and arrest the robbers./PN
