SAN JOSE, Antique – Personnel of the Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) will be receiving higher pay this month. The pay hike will boost their morale, they said.

One of the APPO personnel who will avail herself of the pay hike is Senior Police Officer I Rhia May Sandoy.

Sandoy said the increased take-home pay would help her defray her daily household expenses and settle her debts.

She added the salary increase will provide financial security to APPO personnel.

APPO Information Officer Superintendent Norby Escobar on Wednesday said they are now “more inspired and aggressive” in their campaign against illegal drugs by providing active support to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

“We will also be aggressive in the campaign against other forms of criminalities and enforce other special laws,” Escobar said.

Last year, the provincial police office posted 1,738 drug surrenderees composed of 141 “pushers” and 1,597 “users.”

APPO also recorded a total of 267 barangays in the province which will be the subjects to the clearing operations of PDEA Region 6.

Meanwhile, APPO is currently holding meetings to coordinate with the officials of the University of Antique for the security plan of the upcoming State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association national sports meet.

The sports event will be held in the province from February 18 to 24.

“We will be securing the playing venues and billeting areas,” Escobar said.

He added that the APPO will also be working with the Philippine Army to strengthen its intelligence monitoring, which will determine the volume of people during the national sports affair. (PNA/PN)
