MANILA – The upcoming bubble-style restart of the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup at the Angeles University Foundation Gym in Clark, Pampanga will feature six players in their 40s.
NLEX Road Warriors center Asi Taulava is the oldest of them all at 47 years old. The Filipino-Tongan big man is set for his last hurray in the league before retiring at the end of the season.
Magnolia Hotshots center Rafael Reavis is the second oldest inside the bubble at 43 years of age. The no. 2 overall pick in the 2002 PBA Rookie Draft was still one of the key players for the Hotshots last season.
Just like Reavis, Bacolodnon center Reynel Hugnatan remains a vital cog for the Meralco Bolts despite being in his early 40s. He is turning 42 inside the bubble on November 2.
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings guard Mark Caguioa is another player turning a year older while the PBA Clark play is in progress as he is set to turn 41 on November 19. He is also likely to play his final season this year.
TNT Tropang Giga’s Harvey Carey, on the other hand, is set to suit up for the final time for his team this season. The 41-year-old reserve forward is very much in the thick of things for the Tropang Giga especially with Kelly Williams opting to call it quits.
Another member of Club 40s inside the PBA bubble is San Miguel Beermen center John Billy Mamaril. The 40-year-old is tipped to see some minutes with June Mar Fajardo out of the bubble and the retirement of Yancy de Ocampo./PN
