PBA’s Marcial OK with players sitting out PH Cup Restart

MANILA – Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) commissioner Willie Marcial has no problem if some players will opt to sit out the planned restart of the 2020 Philippine Cup.

Some players in the National Basketball Association (NBA) expressed intention to sit out the restart for various but obvious reasons amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The PBA commissioner also said that while the Commissioner’s Office is fine with players exercising their rights, they should settle the matter internally with their managements.

Marcial, however, shared that his recent talk with some of the players turned out positive; the players were unanimous in their stand to resume training and play at the soonest possible time.

The PBA commissioner said he would call another meeting with the players when the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of the Emerging Infectious Disease allows the league resumption./PN
