ILOILO – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will distribute rice to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in Antique, Aklan, and Capiz on Friday, Oct. 6.
Each of the 1,000 4Ps beneficiaries from each province will receive 25 kilograms of rice, said Carmelo Nochete, director of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6.
“Ang beneficiaries tanan sanda labing pigado,” said Nochete in an interview with Panay News yesterday.
The rice aid is part of the P42-million worth of smuggled rice, or 42,180 sacks, recently confiscated by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Zamboanga City.
The rice were seized following an inspection of a warehouse in Barangay San Jose Gusu.
The identified venues of rice distribution are San Jose de Buenavista in Antique, Kalibo in Aklan, and Roxas City in Capiz.
Nochete clarified that the Office of the President decided which provinces to distribute rice.
In Region 6, Iloilo, Guimaras and Negros Occidental were not included.
“Tatlo lang anay ang gin-identify sang Office of the President,” he said.
The provincial government of Antique and other concerned agencies held a meeting in preparation for the arrival of the President.
An advance party was scheduled to arrive yesterday to thoroughly inspect the designated area to ensure everything was in order.
On Monday, sacks of rice arrived at the Binirayan Sports Complex from the DSWD-6 for Friday’s distribution./PN
