MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has ordered newly-appointed Department of Transportation (DOTr) secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon to not make it hard for the commuters.

In a social media post over the weekend, the Chief Executive tasked Dizon to enhance physical connectivity for the commuting public.

“Welcome aboard, Secretary Vince Dizon! We’re set to enhance physical connectivity and make life easier for the commuting public. Let’s get it done!” said the President.

President Marcos himself administered the oath of office of Dizon, who replaced former DOTr chief Jaime Bautista, at the Malacañang Palace on Friday morning.

After taking his oath, Dizon immediately directed the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) to suspend the reimplementation of cashless toll collection in all expressways which was supposed to take effect March 15 since it is “anti poor.”

Dizon also said that the government will continue the public utility vehicle modernization program despite facing opposition from the jeepney drivers.

Dizon previously served as president of Bases and Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) and COVID-19 presidential adviser under the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte./PN
