BACOLOD City – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will lead the awarding of housing units to the 288 beneficiaries of the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) program in this city on Dec. 20.
The beneficiaries include informal settler families earning the equivalent minimum monthly wage of P10,000 and qualified to take out long-term housing loans under the Pag-IBIG Fund.
Under the said national government’s program, the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD) in coordination with the city government had started to construct the initial 10,000 units.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez yesterday said DHSUD secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar was here last week to visit the Asenso Yuhum Village in Barangay Vista Alegre, the location of the first phase of the housing units.
After Vista Alegre, more housing units would also be constructed in barangays Banago, 8 (Reclamation Area) and Estefania.
DHSUD Department Circular 2023-004, in effect, empowers local government units (LGUs) in addressing housing problems within the jurisdiction of their separate localities.
The circular provides that each partner LGU will act as the lead proponent in the implementation of the housing projects under the 4PH program.
It also stated that LGUs must formulate local policies and programs to support and facilitate project financing, construction and property management./PN
