ILOILO City – The Philippine Coast Guard District Western Visayas (PCGDWV) has been on heightened alert since Monday, Oct. 24, and will continue to be so until Nov. 4, as the agency prepares for Undas.

Coast Guard commander Paterno Belarmino Jr. said they have activated “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2022”. Malasakit help desks were put up in seaports.

PCGDWV members are also on standby at the ports, including medical teams and K-9 units that monitor cargo.

Sea marshals have also been deployed to board ships traveling from Iloilo to Bacolod and vice versa.

As for the current trip of the ships or fast crafts with the expected landfall of Tropical Storm “Paeng”, Belarmino said the trips will continue.

He added that it is better to travel earlier, especially for children and senior citizens, to avoid the influx of passengers.

Belarmino advised passengers over this long weekend to monitor legitimate media platforms for more weather and travel updates./PN
