PCO eyes digital hotline for class, work suspensions

MANILA – The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) is eyeing to set up a digital hotline to ensure early announcements of class and work suspensions.

According to newly-appointed PCO Secretary Cesar Chavez, the aim of the digital hotline is to have a declaration of suspensions before four in the morning.

“Ang task nito, bago mag-4 ng umaga dapat may announcement na kung kinakailangan magbigay ng announcement ang Office of the President,” Chavez said.

He added: “Mayroong focal person from the Office of the Executive Secretary, focal persons from PCO, talagang dapat gumising ng 3 ng umaga para yung decisions ay dapat gawin.”

Chavez also said that the PCO would also make an announcement the night before whether the national government would decide on the suspension or would let the local government units decide on their respective jurisdictions.

Last week, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has tasked concerned government agencies to announce suspension of classes and work due to bad weather as early as possible.

According to the Chief Executive, he wants the suspension of class and work to be announced the night before so the public could make the necessary adjustments.

“Ang instruction ko sa kanila kung maaari bago tayo matulog alam na natin kung may pasok bukas o hindi para makapag-adjust naman ‘yung mga tao,” Marcos said./PN
