THE Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) condemned the attack on its board secretary, Atty. Wesley Barayuga, on Thursday afternoon in Mandaluyong City.
“With sadness, PCSO extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Atty. Wesley A. Barayuga, our colleague, friend and family.
“His untimely demise is a loss to PCSO. His selfless dedication to public service will always be remembered,” PCSO said in a statement.
“PCSO will not stop and leave any stone unturned in its quest for justice on this tragic event. May he rest in peace,” it added.
Barayuga, a former Iloilo City Police Office director, was ambushed at the corner of Calbayog and Malinaw streets after leaving his office at around 4:35 p.m., according to Mandaluyong police chief Police Colonel Hector Grajaldo.
A closed-circuit television camera captured the assassination. A motorcycle-riding man drove beside Barayuga’s car and started shooting.
The incident also left his driver Jojo Gunao wounded.
The security office of PCSO is now coordinating with the Mandaluyong City police to immediately identify the persons behind the attack so that justice will be served. As PCSO board secretary, Barayuga signed important official resolutions and documents./PN
