ILOILO City – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA-6) is appealing to the public to vote for candidates with no illegal drug record.

PDEA-6 spokesperson Atty. Bomrad Abonado said they are counterchecking if there are candidates with previous cases or involvement in illegal activities.

Basi magdaog sila gamiton nila ila poder sa mga illegal nga buluhaton. Wala man naton ginahambal nga ang may involvement sa drugs puro malain, may ara man nga nagabag-o,” Abonado said.

PDEA-6, together with the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), also reminded those running in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) in October to check the financial support they receive, as some might be from illegal drugs.

Candidates were also told by PRO-6 deputy regional director for administration Brigadier General Archival Macala not to ask for financial support from drug suspects.

Mananagot sila bawal ‘yon. We have to validate, then carry out police interventions if we have proof. Alam na nila na we are against illegal drugs at lahat ng mga nasa listahan na drug pushers ay hinahabol natin,” Macala said.

As of present, the police have yet to record major BSKE-related incidents of violence./PN
