ILOILO City – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 and the Police Regional Office (PRO) Region 6 will intensify security measures to prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs during the MassKara Festival in Bacolod City.
PDEA-6 director Alex Tablate said his men are now in Bacolod City to conduct operations and monitor drug peddlers.
They had already deployed K-9 dogs not only in seaports but also in other areas.
“We are intensifying our monitoring on the possible entry of illegal drugs since this event is face-to-face. So alam natin na kukuha sila ng malaking stock at ‘yan ang ating pinaghahandaan,” Tablate said.
On the other hand, PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco had already directed the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), under Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, to intensify their intelligence monitoring since the demand for illegal drugs increases during festivities due to the influx of people and visitors.
“Pagtutuunan natin ng pansin ang possible drug proliferation, so we have to conduct more operations, especially against high-value individuals,” Francisco said.
The MassKara Festival will be held this October after a two-year suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic./PN
