ILOILO City – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed through thermal decomposition P95.5-million worth of shabu and marijuana in Bacolod City.

A total of 11.7 kilos of shabu amounting to P93.8 million and 12.4 kilos of marijuana valued at P1.8 million went up in smoke at Acropolis Gardens in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City.

PDEA used Acropolis Gardens’ cremation machine.

According to PDEA Region 6 director Alex Tablate, the incinerated shabu and marijuana were confiscated between the years 2000 and 2020 yet and have already been presented to             courts as evidences in the charges filed against drug suspects from whom the items were seized.

“Tapos na ang pag-present sa court. Hindi naman basta-basta makuha ang drug evidence without the order from the court,” Tablate said.

Most of them were seized in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, he added. Some were from Iloilo.

They included drug evidence in decided cases as early as 2009 while the rest were for cases filed from 2016 onwards.

In March this year, the PDEA-6 also destroyed 686.27 grams of shabu worth P6.18 million and 2.08 kilos of marijuana worth P312,1590./PN
