ILOILO City – A new regional office for the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is slated to be constructed in Barangay Rumbang, Pototan, Iloilo.
This proposed three-story building, a multimillion-peso project, will stand opposite the Iloilo Provincial Hospital.
The local government, led by Pototan’s Mayor Rafael Enrique Lazaro, has donated a 2,000-square meter plot for the purpose.
Provincial Board member Rolando Distura expressed gratitude, stating, “We are thankful to the local government of Pototan for donating the land for PDEA’s new office.”
Designed with the community in mind, the building’s ground floor will feature a public library. Here, students and the general public can learn about the detrimental effects of drugs, as well as familiarize themselves with the relevant laws and penalties for offenders.
Sharing his perspective, PDEA Deputy Director General for Operations, Assistant Secretary Renato Gumban mentioned, “The proposed infrastructure will significantly enhance our agency’s service delivery.”
He further shared with Panay News that the previous PDEA Region 6 building in Iloilo City will be repurposed as the office for the City Drugs Enforcement Agency.
Additionally, he revealed that several individuals and politicians have already pledged financial support for the initiative./PN
