Peanut vendor killed; suspect still unknown

ILOILO City – Police have yet to identify the suspect in the death of a peanut vendor in Barangay Botongon, Estancia, Iloilo.

The 38-year-old Edgar Deluna was shot in the head, a police report stated.

What led to the shooting of the native of Samar province remained unknown as of this writing. Police were still investigating.

The incident happened at around 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday.

Deluna was driving a tricycle when the motorcycle-riding gunman waylaid and fired at him, initial investigation showed.

PA, SON FIGHT IN LA PAZ

Police arrested a man and his son in Barangay Railway, La Paz district.

Romel Tondo, 50, and 21-year-old son Kenneth now face alarm and scandal charges, a police report showed.

They were caught fighting along a road in their village at around 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday. They were taken to the La Paz police station.

It was not immediately clear as of this writing what the father and son were fighting about.

2 HACKED BY DRUNKEN MAN

A drunken man hacked two other men in Barangay Cabugao, Pavia, Iloilo, a police report showed.

The 49-year-old Elias Silverio of Santa Barbara town was arrested and detained at the Pavia police station.

Police identified the victims as Mike Lozada, 20, of Barangay Balabag Oeste, Santa Barbara and Melchor Aurelio, 22, of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

They were confined in the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district after the incident on Tuesday.

Lozada and Aurelio were walking in Barangay Cabugao, Pavia at 7:30 p.m. when Silverio attacked them, investigation showed.

Lozada had hack wounds on both hands while Aurelio was hit on the body, stated the police report.

FRUSTRATED MURDER RAP VS 19-YEAR-OLD

A 19-year-old detained in San Joaquin, Iloilo will have to shell out P200,000 to be spared from detention.

The amount was the bail bond the court set for the temporary liberty of John Vincent Santoluis, a police report showed.

Santoluis, a resident of Barangay Igburi, San Joaquin, has been wanted for a frustrated homicide charge for a year already.

On Wednesday police served him a warrant of arrest in their village.

The officers then hauled him to the custodial facility of the San Joaquin police station at around 7 a.m./PN
