Pedicab driver faces gun, grenade raps

ILOILO City – A 45-year-old pedicab driver was arrested in Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz district at around 7:20 p.m. on Saturday.

Gunrunning suspect Alfonso Lim of Barangay Bito-on, Jaro district sold a homemade revolver to a police poseur buyer for P2,500.

A hand grenade was also recovered.

“He told us that somebody pawned the gun to him, so seguro kinahanglan nya ang kwarta that’s why gin baligya nya,” said Lieutenant Colonel Albert Sy, chief of City Intelligence Unit.

Lim served prison time for an illegal drug charge in 2014 and was recently released.

He will be facing charges for violating Republic Act (R.A.) 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and R.A. 9516, or the Unlawful Manufacture, Sales, Acquisition, Disposition, Importation, or Possession of an Explosive or Incendiary Device./PN
