Pedicab driver shot dead in Pavia

ILOILO – A 42-year-old pedicab driver was shot and killed by riding-in-tandem gunmen in Barangay Balabag, Pavia town around 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, October 5.

Winifredo “Dodoy” Batican, a resident of the said village, was standing beside the road when he was shot by two unidentified gunmen.

According to Major Dadje Delima, chief of the Pavia Municipal Police Station (MPS), the assailants onboard a black motorcycle sped off towards the town’s Barangay Aganan after the shooting.

Pavia Emergency Responders immediately responded and rushed the victim to the nearest hospital. The victim succumbed to fatal gunshot wound on his body.

Police recovered four empty shells compatible to a caliber .45 firearm from the crime scene.

As of this writing, Pavia police were still investigating the incident further to identify the gunmen and establish the motive behind the shooting.
