PESO-Iloilo’s Hall of Fame award unveiled during ‘Semana sang Iloilo’

ILOILO – As part of the 118th “Semana sang Iloilo” celebration, the provincial government unveiled the Public Employment Service Office’s (PESO) Hall of Fame plaque at the capitol lobby last week.

The plaque was given to Iloilo for winning the “National Best PESO Award”  in the 1st class province category for three consecutive years (2015 to 2017).

The ceremonial unveiling on April 11 was led by Labor undersecretary Renato Ebarle and Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr.

PESO-Iloilo chief Francisco Heler Jr. said the Hall of Fame plaque – awarded during the 18th National PESO Congress last Oct. 26, 2018 in Davao City – serves as proof that local government units and national government agencies are helping each other to deliver quality service to the people.

Heler added that this cooperation is vital in implementing the best practices of PESO, such as referral and job placements, career coaching and employment orientation of students, job fairs, establishing an employment information system, and tapping barangay PESO coordinators.

According to the Heler, PESO has helped 5,557 Ilonggos to find jobs – domestic and overseas – in 2017, higher than in 2016, when 3,369 Ilonggo jobseekers were offered help./PN
