ILOILO – About 242 applicants were hired on the spot in a recent job fair conducted by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the provincial government.
Most of them qualified for local employments in retail services, microfinance and restaurants, said PESO-Iloilo chief Francisco Heler Jr.
The number of hired personnel is expected to increase, said Heler, as they were still waiting reports from other companies that took part in the job fair.
Around 4,647 registered applicants flock the June 7 job fair, wherein 140 firms participated – 126, local and 30, overseas.
A total of 41,473 jobs (8,263 local and 33,210 overseas job orders) were offered in the fair held at the provincial capitol lobby and Casa Real.
Among the local jobs offered were customer service representatives, English language tutors, technical support representatives, virtual assistants, property specialists, corporate account specialists, project sales managers, client service associates, accounting assistants, loan assistants, guest service associates, sales marketing staff, bellmen, banquet managers, store managers, stock clerks, baggers, cashiers, receiving clerks, nurses, medical technologists, and pharmacy assistants.
The overseas jobs offered were civil engineers, building technician, architects, painters, carpenters, food server, receptionist, cook, nurses, midwives, and medical technicians.
Heler attributed the high number of job applicants to the graduation rites held in March, April and May and PESO’s information dissemination.
“Nagadamo ang naga-participate bangod sang information dissemination sa bulig man sang mga media nga malawakan ang information dissemination,” said Heler./PN
