ILOILO City – The most recent Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Job Fair, held last Friday at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, featured not only job opportunities, but also training organizations and professional certification programs, as well.

These groups were present to raise awareness among Ilonggo jobseekers that they could expand their professional qualifications by taking up free training services offered right here in the city.

Among these training advocates is Pamela Daquita. Her organization, RGO International Training Institute, Inc., offers many training opportunities for all Ilonggoes interested in expanding their professional qualifications.

“We provide a variety of training programs under TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority),” Daquita said. “We’re also the first in Iloilo to offer heavy equipment operations training.”

“We offer free skills upgrades,” she explained. “We’re not recruiting people for jobs but for trainings.”

Also present at the job fair was Dexter Docdocil of Rock English, an English tutoring company that caters to foreign students. Docdocil’s organization offers language and systems training to allow Ilonggos to teach foreign students more effectively.

Championing the local outsourcing sector, Markel Serva of Biosphere was also at the PESO event. Biosphere is a relatively new organization that offers free training services to Ilonggoes who want to find employment in call centers.

“This is our first time, kay manug four months pa lang ang Biosphere,” Serva said. “So far na namian gid ko kay kadamo nga applicante nga nag-kadto. Damo gid nga na kita nga interested na pwede namon ma-providedan sang libre nga training para ma-connect namon sila sa call center.”

The latest PESO job gair offered many training opportunities for Ilonggo job seekers, and many applicants were receptive to these services. PECO and a handful of participants expect more training organizations to join future Iloilo job fairs /PN
