Cuban Wilma Salas waxed hot with 37 points as the Angels cruised to a 25-23, 25-11, 22-25, 25-20 victory over the BanKo Perlas Lady Spikers on Wednesday at San Juan Arena.

After easily winning the first two sets, the Angels struggled to close out the Lady Spikers in the third frame with the latter building a 15-5 edge before hanging on when the former came to as close as 22-24.
In the fourth set, the Angels broke from a 13-all deadlock to take a 24-17 lead on back-to-back hits from Johnson. The Lady Spikers came to within 20-24 before surrendering the match with an error.
“Better din na natalo kami ng set (against Lady Spikers) para ma-realize ng mga players na hindi basta-basta ang mga games dahil kung every time na mag-relax ka dyan pwede kang masilat ng kung sino-sino,” said Angels head coach Arnold Laniog.
Nicole Tiamzon led the way with 20 points and made 17 digs, while Angelique Gervacio had 13 markers, 13 digs and 11 excellent receptions for the Lady Spikers, which dropped to 2-4.
Meanwhile, defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers made a quick work of BaliPure Water Defenders, 25-19, 25-18, 25-23. Alyssa Valdez delivered 16 points off 12 kills and four service aces for the Cool Smashers (4-1)./PN
