MANILA – Petron Blaze Spikers is on a dominating kind of form even with a revamped roster as they swept Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 25-17, 25-22, 25-21, in the 2020 Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at the San Juan Arena over the weekend.
American import Katherine Bell finished the match with 20 markers while Frances Molina added 15 points for the defending champion Petron. The team is currently on the top spot with a 2-0 win-loss record.
Tatjana Bokan once again led Chery Tiggo with 21 markers in the losing effort. Her team dropped to a 1-1 slate.
Meanwhile, the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors survived a tough challenge from the Marinerang Pilipinas Lady Skippers by pulling off a 25-19, 21-25, 30-28, 25-20 win and stand on the same sport with Chery Tiggo.
Honey Royse Tubino fired 24 points for Sta. Lucia, while her teammates Shainah Joseph and Mar-Jana Philips chipped in 19 and 13 markers, respectively.
“I told myself that we have to finish this game on a good note. We have to work together a team and, luckily, we did more than that,” Tubino said. “Hopefully we can continue on this winning streak. It’s still too early in the season but we will just have to prepare for what’s in front of us and not to look too far ahead of ourselves.”
Croatian reinforcement Hana Cutura dropped a game-high 29 points, but her efforts went down the drain for Marinerang Pilipina, which slid to 0-2./PN
