IT SEEMS that some in the land of the free are free to show prejudice against others that they see as different and usually as inferior even though everyone is equal by law.
Generally, these prejudices are based on race, gender, religion or social status but possible US Vice President, J.D. Vance has added one more category, âchildless cat ladiesâ.
Not having children may be a deliberate choice, a lack of opportunity, or medical concerns but it doesnât make someone a bad person.
As to pets, including cats, it is clear they bring benefits to their owners in so many ways although I am not sure yet that my Jack Russell, Buddy, has made my life better but he’s improving.
Leaders, or potential leaders, should treat all people as equals in word, action and law.

Shark alert
After watching Skarknado, by accident, I thought the world of shark fiction couldnât get any weirder but the factual world has surpassed it.
A story about sharks testing positive for cocaine would seem farcical except that it was published in National Geographic and a number of reputable newspapers.
Basically, the use of cocaine is so pervasive that it is damaging our environment when it gets into the water systems.
If there was ever a point where we realized we need to protect the environment then the thought of a shark going through drug withdrawal must be it.
Itâs time to make a real effort to protect our world from human frailty and greed.

Price versus value
Six Michael Jordan sneakers have sold for $US8 million ($12 million in Australia). It does raise a question of value versus price. There is no value in them as shoes to wear as only one of each pair is being sold.
Many objects have a price but lose value quickly, think of an ice creamâ’s value five minutes after it was bought.
Of course, anyone can buy whatever they want, at any cost, if they have the money although the wiser ones will think long term.
In terms of value, the six sneakers could pay the first yearâs salary of 160 beginning teachers, if they can be found.
