MANILA – The Philippines Football League is calling the attention of the Global FC management following the complaints of a player and a graphics designer for not getting paid.
PFL commissioner Coco Torre told Panay News last night the league wants to summon Global on Thursday to address the fresh issues hounding the football club.
“The PFL is set to meet with the management of Global FC to discuss these allegations and to know their position on the matter,” said Torre.
“Contracts must be honored and financial obligations must be fulfilled,” he added.
According to Torre, Global could be stripped of its club license if the complaints against them come out true.
Bacolod City-based graphic designer Saya Jaruda complained on his Facebook page late Sunday evening that Global FC has not yet paid him for providing graphics announcing the team’s new acquisitions.
“I want to call out Global FC and its management due to nonpayment of my services,” Jaruda said while sharing the content he created for the team earlier this year.
Jaruda vented out his frustration on social media as he was already promised numerous times to be paid by the management of new Global FC owner Tami Mazinyi.
Former Global FC recruit John Cofie then commented on Jaruda’s post that he is also in the same shoes.
“Global as a club is a sham. The owner, Tami, is [a] compulsive liar! Me and my representatives are going after the club, too, as they owe me [the] signing fee plus six months’ worth of wages!” Cofie said. The issue on salaries is nothing new for Global. Former players also complained of not being paid when the club was still based in Cebu City and even when it transferred to Makati last year./PN
