PH Collegiate Champions League: Negros Occ. cagers 2nd in Vis-Min leg

MANILA – The Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias Titans fell short in the Visayas-Mindanao regionals of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League 2018 at the Davao Recreational Center (Almendras Gym) in Davao City.

The Victorias City, Negros Occidental-based dribblers failed to become the Visayas-Mindanao representatives in the PCCL National Finals in Manila after a close 68-72 defeat to the University of the Visayas Green Lancers on Wednesday night.

It was a tight game since the start with none of the two squads leading by as much as 10 points but the Green Lancers proved to be the tougher team down the stretch to escape with the win.

Prior to its loss to the Green Lancers, the Titans eked out a 90-88 victory over the Mindanao representatives Holy Trinity College of General Santos on Tuesday afternoon.

Jeffrey Manday and Carl Magbanua carried the fight for the Titans in the two-day tournament en route to being named as part of the Mythical Five along with three players from the Green Lancers.

The Titans earned the right to represent Western Visayas in the Vis-Min regionals after a 102-82 win over the Iloilo Doctors’ College in the one-game playoff last month in Bacolod City./PN
