Manila – The Philippines and South Korea are expected to sign four agreements during President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to the foreign country next week.

Department of Foreign Affairs assistant secretary Junever Mahilum-West on Friday said the agreements will be on education, tourism, social security, and fisheries.

Duterte’s meeting with Korean President Moon Jae-in will take place on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit in Busan, South Korea on Nov. 25 to 26.

Mahilum-West said due to Duterte’s busy schedule in the upcoming state visit, he might not be able to meet with the Filipino community.

“At this visit, not yet because I think there are many side events as well of the summit to which the President and other ASEAN leaders are invited to go. So, I think the schedule is very hectic at the moment,” Mahilum-West added.

Foreign Affairs secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr., Trade secretary Ramon Lopez and Social Welfare secretary Rolando Bautista will accompany the President in the upcoming summit.

Duterte’s first visit to South Korea in June 2018 resulted in several deals between the two countries, particularly on agriculture, energy, trade, transportation, and science and technology.
