MANILA – Ceres Negros aims to keep its unblemished slate in the 2018 Philippines Football League when it tangles with Kaya Iloilo in second of four meetings between regional rivals at 7 p.m. tonight at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
The defending champion, Ceres Negros remains on top of the standings with 15 points on five victories and no defeats and draws.
Kaya Iloilo is at third spot with 10 points on three wins, one draw and two losses.
In their first faceoff this season, Ceres Negros came up with a 2-1 victory over Kaya Iloilo on April 4 in Bacolod City. Brothers Manny and Mike Ott were the goal scorers for the Busmen.
“Playing Kaya is always a tough task and we look forward to that challenge,” said Ceres Negros assistant coach Ian Treyes. “We will try to keep the momentum from our previous match.”
Aside from the Ott brothers, also in the Ceres Negros lineup are Bienvienido Marañon, Stephan Schrock, Jeffrey Christiaens, Manuel Herrera, Carlos de Murga, Martin Steuble, Kevin Ingreso, Sean Kane, Takumi Uesato, and Toni Doblas.
Kaya Iloilo, for its past, is hoping to end its string of losses against Ceres Negros dating back from last season as it aims to build on the momentum of their wins in their last two matches.
“We are really looking forward for the ‘Visayas Classico’ against Ceres Negros and we are also honored to lead Iloilo in this PFL season,” said Kaya Iloilo head coach Noel Marcaida.
