MANILA – The University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses makes it to the finals of the Philippine Superliga Collegiate Grand Slam after completing a five-game sweep of the eliminations.
At the Muntinlupa Sports Center on Thursday night, the Golden Tigresses leaned on the exploits of Milena Alessandrini, Ejiya Laure and Ysa Jimenez to pound the listless De La Salle-Dasmariñas Lady Patriots, 25-15, 25-16, 25-20.
Alessandrini led the way with nine kills, a block and a service ace for 11 points.
Laure had a near double-double 10 hits and nine digs, while fellow rookie Jimenez dropped nine markers.
“Our offensive transition still needs to improve,” said Golden Tigresses head coach Ceseal delos Santos. “We had a lot of errors that we could have converted. We still have to polish our game.”
The Golden Tigresses will battle second ranked University of the Philippines Lady Maroons in a winner-take-all Finals on Dec. 20 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Basilyn Delfin finished with eight points to lead the way for the Lady Patriots, which finished the elimination round with 0-4 card.
Meanwhile, University of the East Lady Warriors sent Colegio San Agustin-Biñan Eagles crashing back to earth with a 25-10 26-24, 25-8 victory.
UE will battle Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws for the bronze medal.
