MANILA – Phil Younghusband could be the next Philippine Azkals member to take his act overseas as he is currently in negotiations to play for an Indonesian-based football club.

Younghusband opened his negotiation lines with the Indonesian football club PSIS Semarang after his local club Davao Aguilas decided to disband, a report by the Indosports stated.

PSIS Semarang CEO Yoyok Sukawi was quoted in the report as saying that he is in direct talks with the Azkals veteran and the negotiation between the two camps were positive.

“We continue to communicate with (Younghusband). So far it is still on a positive track,” Yoyok said. “Hopefully soon there will be a good answer, and next month Phil can join us.”

He added: “We will work hard to get Philip’s signature. Hopefully everything will go according to our plan. With his experience, (Younghusband) is a good addition to our football squad.”

If ever the 31-year-old Younghusband pushes through with PSIS Semarang, he will serve as one of the football club’s Asian reinforcement.

Prior to his overseas stint, Younghusband played with several football clubs in the country namely San Beda FC, Loyola Meralco Sparks FC and the Aguilas./PN
