WANT to watch the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra perform for free? Head to Antique and Iloilo provinces on March 1 and 2, respectively.
These âoutreach concertsâ of the Philippinesâ leading symphony orchestra are aimed at promoting the appreciation and understanding of music, said Loren Legarda.
âMusic is one way to reenergize the body, mind and soul. It not only brings entertainment but also increases creativity,â the Antiqueña senator said.
This March 1, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at the San Juan Nepomuceno Parish Church in Anini-y, Antique at 6 p.m.
The symphony orchestra will head to the Iloilo Convention Center in Mandurriao, Iloilo City the following day to perform at 7 p.m.
It is expected to showcase classical pieces, including Johann Straussâs âFledermaus Overture,â Ivanovichâs âWaves of the Danube Waltzâ and Leroy Andersonâs âSerenata,â and well-known Broadway and Filipino music, including a Frank Sinatra Medley, a Broadway Tonight Suite, Webberâs âPhantom of the Opera,â an Aegis Overture, a well-known Visayan song âDandansoy,â âWalang Angay,â pop music âDespacito,â and a VST Medley.
âOur support for the PPO outreach concerts is part of our efforts to evoke a sense of pride among Filipinos and gradually bring about cultural renaissance in the country,â Legarda said.
Ilonggo senator Franklin Drilon is another supporter of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra outreach concerts.
Last year Drilon brought the Manila Symphony Orchestra to Iloilo City for concerts at the St. Anne Parish Church in Molo district and the Iloilo Convention Center./PN
