THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth 6) in celebration of its 25th Anniversary partnered with nine public elementary schools in the region for a simultaneous hand hygiene activity.

Nearly 1,000 elementary pupils from the Provinces of Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Antique, Capiz, Aklan and Guimaras participated in the simultaneous hand hygiene activity of PhilHealth.

“We recognize the importance of maintaining good health and proper hand hygiene is one simple yet cost-effective method to combat the spread of diseases brought about by germs, bacteria and viruses.  With this simple activity, we hope that our public school pupils will not only learn proper hand washing but will also make this a part of their day-to-day activity,” said  Atty. Valerie Anne H. Hollero, acting regional vice president of PhilHealth 6.

Following the prescribed guidelines of the World Health Organization, students are oriented through actual demonstration on the proper hand washing and hand-drying.  These students also received hygiene kits from PhilHealth which they can use to keep their hands clean and germ-free.

This simultaneous proper hand hygiene is one of the activities of PhilHealth 6 in celebration of its silver anniversary with a theme “Pinatatag ng Segurong Pangkalusugan ng Bawat Filipino.”
