ILOILO – A 25-year-old reservist of the Philippine Air Force got electrocuted at his uncle’s house in Barangay Jibolo, Janiuay town.
Roniel Cantal, a resident of the said village, was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, according to Captain Alwyn Salmon, chief of the Janiuay Municipal Police Station.
Salmon said Cantal and his father were installing electric wiring when the victim accidentally touched a live wire around 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 10.
The police chief added that Cantal had applied for the Philippine Air Force and was supposed to start his training on August 15.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Air Force – Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (PAF-ROTC) of the West Visayas State University (WVSU)-Janiuay Campus mourned the passing of Cantal whom they described as “our brave Philippine Air Force reservist.”
“Sergeant Roniel Cantal’s commitment to service exemplified courage and dedication. His sacrifice will always be remembered with deep respect and gratitude. Our thoughts are with the bereaved family and loved ones during this difficult time,” read part of the Facebook post of the PAF-ROTC WVSU-Janiuay .
It added: “We pay tribute to the valor of our own reservist. Your service will always be remembered. We at the PAF-ROTC WVSU-Janiuay Campus are in grief for the loss. Your memory will fly with the winds of honor and respect. Your legacy will forever soar high! A snappiest salute to you, Sgt. Roniel Cantal, PAFR!”/PN
