Last March 11, PHINMA UI celebrated its 75th Founding celebration with the theme ‘Love and Light’ which recognized of the work of PHINMA UI has accomplished through the years with a mission of making lives better through quality education.
The founding activity include a mass, gratitude night, praise and worship service and the main highlight of the celebration is the Love and Light PHINMA UI Anniversary Concert, that was streamed live via school’s official Facebook page.
Aside from that, PHINMA University of Iloilo also launches the ‘Reach for the StARs’ scholarship campaign as part of their 75th Founding anniversary celebration.
As one of the schools of PHINMA Education, PHINMA UI adheres to the mission of making lives better through quality education. Part of staying true to this is to ensure student retention. This means students stay in school until they eventually graduate.
Last academic year 2020-2021, 3,703 freshmen students enrolled in PHINMA UI. Out of this number, 2,046 are students at-risk of dropping out. Also called as StARs, these are students who lack the financial capacity to continue to support their schooling. The 58% were already given internal scholarships and yet, only 1371 of the 2,046 students at risk enrolled for the second semester, 33% of students-at-risk dropped out.
Recognizing the need to help more students-at-risk, the Center for Student Development and Leadership (CSDL) and the Alumni and Corporate Engagement (ACE) teams of PHINMA UI leads this scholarship campaign to help students-at-risk complete their tertiary education by tapping partner industries, alumni and generous individual sponsors who would wish to help out to pay for tuition and allowances of students.
