MANILA — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) warned the public not to fall for circulating predictions on the location and time of earthquakes.
The state seismology bureau pointed out that there is still no technology anywhere in the world that can predict where and when earthquakes will strike.
“There is still no technology in the world that can predict when and where powerful earthquakes will occur,” Phivolcs said.
Phivolcs likewise asked the public not to share information that may cause alarm or confusion.
“Do not send or forward information that may cause fear or confusion to those who may read it,” it added.
Phivolcs also stressed the importance of preparedness should major earthquakes strike.
“It’s important to have the correct knowledge and ample preparedness to be safe from the dangers of strong earthquakes,” Phivolcs said. (Adrian Parungao © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
