KALIBO, Aklan – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported an 87 percent decrease in the number of dengue cases in this province.

PHO-Aklan’s record for the period of Jan. 1 to July 11 this year showed only 347 cases compared to 2,706 in the same period last year.
This capital town recorded the most number of dengue cases with 109, followed by Numancia, 33; Makato, 29; Banga, 24; New Washington, 19; Malay, 18; Tangalan, 15; Nabas, 14; Libacao, 13; Batan, 13; Ibajay, 12; Balate, 12; and Madalag, 10.
Malinao and Lezo, on the other hand, recorded seven cases each; Altavas, five; and Buruanga, three.

The PHO’s record added that most of the victims of dengue were children aged one to 10 years old.

Provincial Health Officer I Dr. Cornelio Cuachon Jr. reminded the public not to disregard simple fever, cough, cold, and rashes as these are the symptoms of a dengue patient.

He added that as of July 11, Aklan already recorded two deaths due to dengue. (With a report from PIA/PN)
