BACOLOD City â Alarmed with 39 recorded deaths due to dengue in 2017, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) is currently reviewing its program against the disease.
PHO head Dr. Ernel Tumimbang said yesterday they need to assess the actions that they took to fight dengue.
This may lead them to identify potential loopholes in the program, Tumimbang said.
âWe need to identify the gaps and issues in the dengue prevention program of the province,â he added.
Tumimbang said he is trying to look into the referral system that local government units are using when it comes to dengue patients.
The PHO head also said he will convene the different committees he created for dengue prevention in the province.
The meeting will focus on measures that will aim to decrease the number of deaths due to dengue this year.
According to Tumimbang, the dengue mortality rate in the province in 2016 was higher compared to that in 2017.
He, however, failed to present records supporting this.
Tumimbang said he will officially present the comparative analysis of dengue incidents in years 2016 and 2017 tomorrow./PN
