Eight teams are set to compete in the cage wars of the 1st Pintados de Pasi Invitational Open Basketball Tournament, which will open this afternoon at the City of Passi Arena in Passi City, Iloilo.
Among the confirmed teams in the competition were the Department of Public Works and Highways 2nd DEO/J. Cordon/Double J, Western Institute of Technology/XYB/Toto Tia Ten, Asialink/TEJ and Hercor College Junior Jaguars.
Also set to join the tournament were Guimaras Leopards, JKG, The Octonganons and the Philippine National Police.
The pocket tournament was presented by Passi City Mayor Atty. Stephen A. Palmares, Vice Mayor Jesry Palmares, Sangguniang Panglungsod members and the People of Passi City.
Meanwhile, aside from basketball, there are other sporting events in line with Pintados de Pasi. They are the Developmental Chess Tournament (March 8), bodybuilding and duathlon race (March 15), car show (March 20), Motorcross and taekwondo (March 21), Muay Thai National Championships (March 26 to 30) and Table Tennis (April 4 and 5).

BLIND ITEM: A veteran guard reportedly vented ire on his fellow guest, specifically a woman, in a wedding reception of a former teammate not long time ago due to his “unstable hands.”
A source told Buzzer Beater that the said veteran might have had too much of alcohol by that time, therefore, he could be not aware that he was touching female guests without permission.
“Dahil kasalan nga iyon siguro baka nakainom na rin si (veteran guard), kaya hindi niya napigilan ang kanyang mga kamay na dumapo sa parte ng katawan ng babaeng guest,” said the source.
“Hindi nagustuhan ni babaeng guest (a famous sports anchor) ang walang permisong pagdapo ng kamay ni player pero di siya nageskandalo. Kinabukasan, dun na siya nagwala sa social media,” he added.
“Hindi man pinangalanan ni babaeng guest kung sino ‘yung pinatutungkulan niya pero alam na alam na ng mga nakabasa na si (veteran guard) ‘yung tinutukoy niya,” the source further said.
“May history din kasi si player nung kabataan niya pa. Nung nasa kolehiyo pa ‘yan nahuli ‘yan sa library na kunwari ay nagbabasa ng libro, pero ‘yun pala may ginagawa nang milagro.”
“Sana lang ay wala na tayong marinig na ganitong mga kuwento pa kay player dahil very talented siya at tatagal pa siya sa liga. Kasi sakaling masangkot uli siya sa kontrobersya, baka ‘yung career niya parang imported na chips na masira,” the source concluded./PN
