ACTORS Piolo Pascual and Dingdong Dantes tied for the Best Actor award at the inaugural Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) in Los Angeles, California.
Both Pascual and Dantes were recognized by the MIFF jurors for their respective 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival movie entry “Mallari” and “Rewind.”
“Sa ating mga jurors maraming salamat sa pagkilala, maraming maraming salamat po sa inyo,” Dantes said in his acceptance speech.
Aside from Pascual and Dantes, Vilma Santos-Recto was named the Best Actress. Christopher De Leon also received the award on her behalf.
In behalf of my screen partner Vilma Santos-Recto, we would like to thank of course the MIFF of course Chairman Artes and ALJ, Ben Abalos Sir, and to all the beautiful people here tonight thank you so much for this opportunity. And Bru! Bru! This is for you Congratulations Vilma Santos Recto,” De Leon said.
Meanwhile, the movie “Firefly” also received major awards including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Director while, “GomBurZa” was judged Best in Cinematography and Audience Choice Award.
