MANILA – Detained Janet Lim Napoles has been urged to finalize her affidavit on congressmen and senators allegedly involved in her multibillion-peso pork barrel scam.
“Baka naman six months from now ang lahat na wala sa listahan ngayon nasa listahan na,” quipped President Benigno Aquino III.
He wondered how many individuals would be included in the “Chapter 3” or “third version” of the Napoles list of lawmakers whom she had transactions with.
Napoles gave the first list to Justice Secretary Leila de Lima last month. Her husband gave another list to former senator Panfilo Lacson. Another purported list was presented by the president of the so-called whistleblowers’ association, Sandra Cam.
The three lists’ contents vary.
“Saan ba papatungo ito? Bakit isang tao, one list or one set of list, said it’s 11, and another set of list from the same person said 14? Bakit pabago-bago ka?” the President wondered.
Aquino also expressed doubt that Napoles is sincere in helping ferreting out the truth about the pork barrel scam.
“Ikaw ba ay tutulong sa paglinaw sa usaping ito o habol mo lang paguluhin? Sa kaka-explore natin ng lahat ng akusasyon gusto niya bang ma time-out na ako para wala na maisampang kaso? Siyempre dapat mag-ingat tayo diyan,” he added.
The President said he is also wary of Napoles’ changing attitude.
“(Noong) una ayaw (niya) kausapin si (Justice) Secretary Leila de Lima. Pagkatapos ngayon gustong kausapin si Secretary de Lima,” he said.
The President said there is still a need to vet Napoles’ testimony further before deciding what to do.
“Manigurado tayo, ano bang sinasabi,” he said, adding that Napoles still needs to prove that she is not the most guilty to be considered a state witness.
Last week, de Lima said there is already an initial signed affidavit from Napoles but that it is still a “work in progress.”
Napoles had earlier committed to come clean about the scam in the hopes of being granted immunity./PN
