ILOILO City – The over P86 million worth of illegal drugs seized across Western Visayas since May this year was the result of aggressive community engagement.

“The community engagement natin isa sa mga reasons na marami tayong operations. Marami na nagsusumbong sa atin. Dito sa Western Visayas malakas ang community engagement, maraming information na pumapasoks,” said Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Benjamin Acorda Jr. who was in the city on Monday, Aug. 14, for the regional commemoration of the 122nd Police Service Anniversary.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor confirmed that since May 24, they have seized more than P86 million worth of shabu and arrested 704 drug suspects now facing criminal charges.

Ang ating accomplishments ay dahil sa kasipagan ng ating mga pulis. So we will not stop running after drug peddlers and as much as possible we have to target high-value individuals,” Villaflor said.

Acorda further said he will continue to focus on the campaign against illegal drugs.

“We want it aggressive and honest. Wala ‘yang mga shortcuts to avoid ang mga parang naging issues lately,” the PNP chief said./PN
