ILOILO – Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba was recognized by the Philippine National Police as the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for Operation in the country.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office director is set to receive the award during the 117th Police Service Anniversary celebration on Aug. 8 at the PNP Transformation Oval Grandstand in Camp Crame.
President Rodrigo Duterte, guest of honor, will witness the recognition of Tayaba and the other police awardees.
Tayaba is one of the six officers who will be conferred with Individual Awards after a stringent “screening and evaluation of the mandatory requirements based on the weight and merit of the significant accomplishment submitted by the candidates,” the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management wrote the IPPO on July 19.
Another officer from Western Visayas – Senior Police Officer 1 Nida Gregas, Public Information Office chief of the Aklan Police Provincial Office – was awarded Best Senior Police Noncommissioned Officer for Administration.
Tayaba topped two other contenders for the recognition – the directors of the Tarlac Police Provincial Office and the Cebu City Police Office.
Among the accomplishments he reported to the national headquarters were the neutralization of the drug lord Richard Prevendido and the Balume group led by Arturo “Master Pedic” Balume Jr., Tayaba told the press on Friday.
He said this accomplishment inspires the IPPO and the Police Regional Office 6 and gives them a sense of pride.
“This only shows that the higher headquarters recognizes our efforts,” the provincial police director said./PN
