MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) is planning to arrest controversial televangelist Pastor Apollo Quiboloy inside his Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City peacefully.
PNP spokesperson Jean Fajardo admitted that arresting Quiboloy inside the compound will not be easy, just like what happened when they first attempted to arrest him.
“Hindi ganun ka-simple. Kung matatandaan mo, unang pinasok ‘yung KOJC compound sa Davao noong June 10 ay nagkaroon ng tensyon,” Fajardo said in an interview with Teleradyo Serbisyo.
Fajardo added that searching for Quiboloy inside the KOJC compound “could take hours if not days” because of the size of the estate.
“It will take hours if not days to really search ‘yung napakalaking compound na ‘yun, kailangang pag-isipan ng maigi. This time around, gusto nating makasiguro na hindi mauulit ‘yung nangyari nung June 10,” she said.
Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao region chief, previously said that Quiboloy remains in Davao and is hiding inside the KOJC compound in Barangay Buhangin.
Warrants of arrest were issued against Quiboloy and others for alleged violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act and Republic Act No. 9208 or Qualified Human Trafficking.
Quiboloy has also been indicted by a federal grand jury in the US District Court for the Central District of California for conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion and sex trafficking of children; sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion; conspiracy; and bulk cash smuggling.
On Thursday, the Court of Appeals has also issued a freeze order on Quiboloy’s 10 bank accounts, seven real properties, five motor vehicles and an aircraft./PN
